Simon is a history graduate with experience as a legal assistant in the UK where he worked in a local government in-house legal team providing support to the Children’s Social Services department. He worked cases involving child abuse, neglect and parental abandonment. Prior to this Simon was an immigration caseworker at the Home Office where he made decisions on whether applications merited leave to remain in the UK under the family, private life and discretionary leave outside the rules routes. This often-involved complex decision making taking into account the European Convention on Human Rights.
